Our nationally known and highly respected ballet program provides authentic training for preprofessionals and the necessary base for most other forms of dance. NEW this year – we are pleased to offer a Recreational Ballet class for beginners ages 7-9. Offered in 10- and 12- week sessions with a discount given for paying for more than one session at a time. Fall and winter sessions are 10 weeks each; the spring session is 12 weeks. This class is perfect for dancers who need to understand basic ballet terminology and technique in order to succeed in other genres of dance. Click here to register. Princeton Dance and Theater Studio is proud to include the AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE® National Training Curriculum, a breakthrough 8 level program that combines high quality artistic training with the basics of dancer health and child development. The ABT® National Training Curriculum consists of a comprehensive set of age-appropriate, outcome-based guidelines to provide the highest quality ballet training to dance students of all ages and skill levels.
PDT’s ABT® Certified Teachers include: Risa Kaplowitz, Director (Primary-Level 7), Nora Cotter who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Primary through Level 7 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum and received her NYU masters degree in ABT Ballet Pedagogy; Maura Ryan (Primary-Level 5). All three instructors are ABT® NTC Affiliate instructors having presented students for examinations.
Our advanced ballet students have been accepted to the top summer intensives in the country. These include: Kaatsban; American Ballet Theater in NYC, Atlanta, Detroit and California; Joffrey; Julliard; Boston Summer Dance, Boston Dance Lab; Orlando Ballet; Miami City Ballet; San Francisco Ballet; Pittsburgh Ballet Theater; Atlanta Ballet; and North Carolina School of the Arts.
Our dancers are or have been members or trainees of ballet companies including: Royal Danish Ballet, Dresden SemperOper Ballett, Complexions Contemporary Ballet Company, Ballet X, Boston Ballet, Houston Ballet, Orlando Ballet, Ballet Met, Washington Ballet, Colorado Ballet, Columbia City Ballet, Sacramento Ballet, and Staten Island Ballet. Others have gone on from PDT into some of the most esteemed college dance programs including: Indiana University’s Jacob School of Music’s Ballet Department, NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, Rutger University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts, North Carolina Dance Theatre, and The University of Utah, Department of Ballet.
Please note that new students wanting to enroll in a Level 1 and above class need to schedule a placement class. Dancers in lower levels MUST be of specified age by September 30. Only an instructor can finalize any placement.
