Alexis Branagan

Alexis Branagan danced with New York Theatre Ballet from 2012-2022, performing works by Sir Richard Alston, Merce Cunningham, Agnes de Mille, José Limón, Jerome Robbins, Pam Tanowitz, and Antony Tudor. She currently performs with Cherylyn Lavagnino Dance. Her performance experience also includes engagements with Armitage GONE! Dance, Brooklyn Ballet, and productions for Carnegie Hall, Public Theater’s Shakespeare in the Park, the Merce Cunningham Trust, opera, and television.

A New Jersey native, Alexis trained primarily at New Jersey Ballet. She spent summers at The Juilliard School, Kaatsbaan, and San Francisco Conservatory of Dance. While earning her degree in English and minor in Dance at Princeton University, Ms. Branagan performed works by Mark Morris, Twyla Tharp, Rebecca Lazier, August Bournonville, and Mary Day. She was founding artistic director of Princeton University Ballet, of which now eight PDT alumni have been a part.

Off stage, Alexis works in communications for Princeton University Concerts. Over the past seven years, she has taught adult beginner ballet at New York Theatre Ballet School in the East Village, NYC and played an integral role in growing the school’s adult program. Alexis also taught a Beginner Ballet undergraduate course at Princeton University. She is glad to join the faculty Princeton Dance and Theater Studio and looks forward to sharing her expertise and love of ballet with the region’s adult ballet community.
